(A Branch Centre of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math)
FUTURE PLANS
Ramakrishna Mission, Kharupetia was established to spread the ideals of Sri Ramakrishna Deva, Ma Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda in the heartland of Assam. It has joined hands with Belur Math and came under its fold very recently and started aligning its activities to the tune of global activities of Ramakrishna Mission of social and spiritual upliftment of the society. In this process by the grace of Sri Ramakrishna a great opportunity has come up to the fore. It became a momentous occasion for Kharupetia Ashram when Honorable Chief Minister Mr. Himant Biswa Sharma visited Mangal Doi, the District Headquarter on 20.06.2024 and had a special meeting with us. In that meeting he has promised to donate about 100 bighas of land for Ramakrishna Mission, Kharupetia to make a new School and a Charitable Dispensary. He asked us to keep in touch with the MP and also advised the Chairperson of Kharupetia to find the suitable land for the Ramakrishna Mission, Kharupetia. The Honorable Chief Minister gave the positive assurance in this matter. Meanwhile we are in touch with the district administration as advised and initially a land of nearly 40 bighas near the SSB camp has been identified. The process of transfer will take place soon. It will be a sprawling complex ideally suited for multifarious social activities like School, Charitable Dispensary, Pallimangal etc. as we often see in Ramakrishna Mission’s other renowned centres. In the first phase it has been planned to start with a multipurpose school which will range upto 12th standard. It will consist of School Building, Hostel Facilities, Playground, Auditorium etc and apart from it there will be Monk’s quarters and Guest House. In fact we have already a school associated with this Ashram though as of now we are not directly managing it. If we get the land it will be very convenient for us to take over the existing school and start it in the new facility. Pallimangal is the speicialised activity taken up by Ramakrishna Mission to empower the rural women folk for self sustenance by means of handicraft, knitting and various cottage industries. We are eagerly waiting for the development in this sphere and alongwith us here is a bunch of young enthusiastic volunteers in our fold who are ready to take up the challenge and jump into action. By the grace of Sri Sri Thakur Maa and Swamiji we hope the thing will materialize soon and work should start in this financial year itself.
